Hamas denies leaving letter for John Kerry?

Say what?  I know I've been kind of flying in and out of here today, but what's up with this?

Hamas denied on Friday having passed on to visiting US Senator John Kerry a letter for President Barack Obama, whose nation considers the Islamist group to be a terror organisation.

"Hamas denies having given a letter to John Kerry," spokesman Fawzi Barhum told AFP in the Gaza Strip.

"However, we are willing to forge ties with anyone who is ready to back the rights of the Palestinian people," Barhum added.

A UN spokesman earlier said that Kerry was given a letter for Obama believed to be from Hamas during a visit by the senator to the Hamas-ruled and war-ravaged Gaza Strip on Thursday, as part of a regional tour.

"A letter addressed to Obama was left at the gate of our offices in Gaza; it is believed to be from Hamas," said Christopher Gunness of UNRWA, the agency for Palestinian refugees.

Asked about the contents of the letter, Gunness said: "We are very polite at UNRWA, we don't open other people's mail."

He said the letter was given to the influential senator when he met relief officials at the UN compound during his tour of the devastated enclave, which no US official had visited in years.

International Red Cross shills for Hamas.

Just one more reason to donate to the Salvation Army in my view.

From The NYT:  Gaza children found with mother's corpses.

The International Committee of the Red Cross said Thursday it had discovered “shocking” scenes — including small children next to their mothers’ corpses — when its representatives gained access for the first time to parts of Gaza battered by Israeli shelling. It accused Israel of failing to meet obligations to care for the wounded in areas of combat.

I don't know.  Personally, I think this is more shocking and it goes a long way to explain the "shocking" scenes witnessed by the Dhimminational Red Cross.

Hamas: Leader's kids were trained for martyrdom.

When I was a kid my father always asked, "Who's daddy's little button nose?"  This sick freak asked "who's daddy's little martyr?"  Sick.

When Hamas leader Nizar Rayyan was assassinated in an IAF strike last week, his four wives and 11 of his children died with him. According to his surviving children, the death of the Rayyan family children was not an accident: Rayyan had trained his wives and children to die with him as "martyrs."

Surviving family members spoke to local Arab media and said that in the days before his death, Rayyan had repeatedly asked his children, "Who wants to die with me as a martyr?" The children would respond, "Yes, daddy, we all want to be with you alive or dead."

Rayyan's adult daughter, Wala, said even the younger children wished to die with their father. "If in the days before his death, Rayyan has repeatedly asked his children, "Who wants to die with me as a martyr?" If you had asked my four-year-old sister Aisha, who died in the attack, she would have told you that she preferred to die as a martyr," Wala told Ma'an news.

One of Rayyan's daughter-in-laws said she was offered the chance to die with the family.

US: Jimmy Carter Shills for Hamas...and himself.

Jimmy Carter gets my vote for most pathetic ex-president.  And having lived through the Carter years, I can say with some authority that he was also a pathetic PRESIDENT.  (Poor thing, he yearns to be relevant in the worst old way.  I wish he'd just shuffle back to his peanut farm.  Or go somewhere and build more sub-standard housing for the poor.)

Anyways, in this piece Jimmy pretty much says he visited the Israelis of Sderot and they are whiners and namby-pambys.  And they have some nerve complaining about a few rockets when 1.5 million Palestinians are STARVING!   HE visited the Palestinians - they sort of blew him off but HE, Jimmy Carter was able to get them to agree to peace talks.  Then HE, superstar president and world humanitarian that HE is - was singlehandedly able to bring Egypt to the negotiating table.   If that wasn't enough, HE singlehandedly got Israel to allow the resumption of humanitarian aid.  Not through with the region, HE traveled to Syria to see if the Syrians could get Hamas to stop shooting rockets long enough to get them to REALLY stop firing rockets so the humanitarian missions would continue. 

You know what happened next.

Big surprise - they were just playing him. 

Poor Jimmy.

HE tried to broker and mideast peace deal and all HE got was FREQUENT FLYER MILES!   

An Unnecessary War by Jimmy Carter

After 12 days of "combat," the Israeli Defense Forces reported that more than 1,000 targets were shelled or bombed. During that time, Israel rejected international efforts to obtain a cease-fire, with full support from Washington. Seventeen mosques, the American International School, many private homes and much of the basic infrastructure of the small but heavily populated area have been destroyed. This includes the systems that provide water, electricity and sanitation. Heavy civilian casualties are being reported by courageous medical volunteers from many nations, as the fortunate ones operate on the wounded by light from diesel-powered generators.

I tell you, my heart bleeds and my knee jerks.

Salt Lake City: 200 protest Israel bombing Gaza.

"Our government has taken the stance that Israel deserves to live in peace and security. Our position is that Palestinians deserve the same."  

Don't make me laugh, moonbat.  I guess the Palestinians should have thought of that before firing all those rockets into Sderot, then.

One protester, a certain Hilda Sabbah, says her girlfriend was 'shot three times in the head'.  Given that ground forces have yet to enter the region and the fact that it's hard to feature the Israelis firing magic bullets from the window of a speeding F-16, I'm calling bullshit on you, Hilda.  If your cousin got shot, she got shot by your buddies from Hamas.

Hilda Sabbah watches news reports from Gaza, seeing if she knows the faces of the wounded and dead being carted away from a bombed-out building.

The Palestinian woman, 38, left home eight years ago to earn a doctorate from Brigham Young University, but her parents and siblings still live in the West Bank and her cousins are in Gaza, which is under Hamas control.  One of her close friends was shot three times in the head earlier this week and likely won't survive.

"You wait to hear from friends and family, but you just feel crippled," she said.

Sabbah was one of nearly 200 protesters who gathered Wednesday in front of the Federal Building in Salt Lake City to protest U.S. funding of the Israeli military and the renewed violence in the Middle East.

Protesters held signs, shouted to drivers to honk in support and shared their stories with passersby.

"We're very concerned about the indiscriminate bombing of innocents in Gaza," said Frances ReMillard, whose group, Utahns for a Just Peace in the Holy Land, organized the protest. "Our government has taken the stance that Israel deserves to live in peace and security. Our position is that Palestinians deserve the same."

Iran: Big Daddy Khamenei lays down some Gaza smack.

Looks like Big Daddy Khamenei has issued a fatwa calling for all Muslim killers to strap on the bombs for Gaza.   

Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei issued a religious decree to Muslims around the world on Sunday, ordering them to defend Palestinians against Israel's attacks on Gaza, state television said.

"All Palestinian combatants and all the Islamic world's pious people are obliged to defend the defenseless women, children and people in Gaza in any way possible. Whoever is killed in this legitimate defense is considered a martyr," state television quoted Khamenei as saying in a statement outlining the fatwa.

Khamenei also criticized some Arab governments for their "encouraging silence" towards the Israel's raids on Gaza. "The Zionist regime must by held accountable by Islamic governments. The heads of this regime must be held personally accountable for these crimes and the ongoing siege," the religious leader said.

P.S. Dinah usually leaves the coverage of Israel and Palestine to others but may I say how happy I am to see Israel taking action against those Pali thugs.  Go get 'em, Israel.  Let's hope the action will cause the Arab states to turn on each other...it sounds like the sniping in the Arab League is already beginning.

Ahmad Al-Muzain: "The Prophet Muhammad said: 'If a fly falls into your drink, you should dip it in the drink, and then dispose of the fly, because one of its wings bears a disease, and the other wing bears the cure.' This hadith was included in the Al-Bukhari collection. This hadith makes it absolutely clear that the Prophet Muhammad confirmed a clear scientific fact: If a fly falls into a vessel - before a person drinks from this vessel, he should dip the fly in his drink, before disposing of it. Then he should drink the beverage, because it won't do him any harm. Why? Because one of the fly's wings bears the disease, and the other one bears the cure. [...]

"In Germany, the Church paid a very large sum of money to two scientists to disprove this hadith. Since this hadith appears in the Al-Bukhari collection, we cannot claim that it is unreliable or anything, and so they thought that if they could prove that this hadith contradicts science, they would be dealing a devastating blow to Islam." "This antibiotic was made into a course of five pills, which is given to the patients, and it is used – believe it or not, my brothers – to treat AIDS patients. … How did they discover it? From this hadith," he said.

Feds shut down another Islamic terror charity

Global Relief Foundation, Holy Land Foundation, and so many others, and now yet another Islamic charity is shut down for funding jihad terrorism. One would think that since this keeps happening, someone would get a clue -- this charitable support comes from people who believe that by paying zakat to aid jihad, they are discharging their religious duty. But this aspect of the Islamic charity phenomenon never seems to come into consideration.

About the Union of Good:

The Treasury Department's action against the Union of Good means that any bank accounts or other financial assets belonging to the charity found in the United States will be frozen. Americans also are barred from making donations to the group, which the U.S. government alleged was created by leaders of Hamas to transfer money to Hamas....

The department alleged that the Union of Good "acts as a broker for Hamas" by facilitating money transfers among a web of charitable organizations — some of which the United States has already put on its blacklist of terrorist financiers — and Hamas-controlled organizations in the West Bank and Gaza.

"Some of the funds transferred by the Union of Good have compensated Hamas terrorists by providing payments to the families of suicide bombers," Treasury alleged.

The Union of Good facilitates "the transfer of tens of millions of dollars a year to Hamas-managed associations in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip," the department said.
