Update: Wednesday 8/26 1:09 pm. Additional updates can be found upthread.
For some reason the link (cited in my earlier post here) listing young suspected perp-vandal Maurice Schwenkler's payment from the Colorado Citizens' Coalition has become inoperable. I am consoled by the fact that lots of other bloggers saw it too.
Gateway Pundit is also now reporting that there is an SEIU link. (I hesitated to confirm this earlier because of the squirreliness of the link/connection.)
But what about the other 527's linked to the Colorado Citizen's Coalition and mentioned here:
Colorado Citizens' for Accountability is a ' grassroots organization' formed by Patty and David Skolnik.
To help make sure people are aware of the issues and rights under the justice system Michael's parents, Patty and David Skolnik, have started the grassroots organization Colorado Citizens for Accountabilty.
Patty and David are responsible for the Michael Skolnik Medical Transparency Act which passed in 2007.
They also appear to be the founders of The C.A.S.E. Network.
(Also note the links to ambulance chasers law firms on a site discussing the legislation here.)
Moving right along to the Colorado Main Street Alliance.
The Colorado Main Street Alliance began outreach to local small business owners in September 2008. We have conducted outreach to local small business communities in Greeley, Fort Collins, Pueblo, and the Denver metro area.
The goal of the Alliance is to create opportunities for small business owners to speak for themselves about health care and how to fix it. We’re part of a growing network of small business coalitions in a dozen states around the country.
Their 4 - C's of health care could have come straight from an Obamacare talking points memo. Check it out here. The contact listed [email protected] leads us to the Colorado Progressive Action Network.
Incorporated in 2002, CPA is the 501(c)-4, lobbying arm of the Colorado Progressive Coalition (CPC). CPA coordinates political action and advocacy on legislation ranging from opposing the Iraq war, fighting and winning racial and economic justice policy fights, defeating right-wing attempts at Social Security privatization, opposing conservative judicial nominations and working on federal tax and budget policy issues. Since August of 2006, CPA's membership has grown to include 4,800 Coloradans from throughout the state.
And about Israel? That would be Israel Garcia, a paid agitator and organizer.
Israel joined CPA in January 2009 as the Small Business Organizer in conjunction with the Health Care for America Now campaign where he is helping develop investment and solidarity in the fight for comprehensive health care reform. Israel grew up in rural Southern Colorado in the town of Monte Vista. He attended the University of Colorado at Boulder earning degrees in Sociology, Political Science, and Ethnic Studies and Certificate in Leadership Studies and Practice. Since his graduation he has worked as the Colorado Field Director for the United States Student Association where he help plan and coordinate the No on 46 campaign and the first successful defeat of a Ward Connerly backed anti-equal opportunity ballot initiative.
Moving onto the next name on the list, Colorado Values, we circle back onto the CEA and find this AND the name Julie Wells. About Julie Wells.
The CEA and its local affiliates gave more than $1.5 million to 527s in the past five years, including $10,000 to the conservative Colorado Leadership Fund to elect Republican candidates. But the great majority of those dollars went to seven apparently Democrat-leaning groups managed by the same registered agent and bookkeeper, Julie Wells. Wells did not respond to a request for comment.
Among the seven groups is the Colorado Citizens’ Coalition, the recipient of $200,000 from the CEA, which lists its mission as “to provide information to Colorado citizens.” The coalition filed reports indicating it was working on behalf of 17 legislative candidates – all Democrats. The coalition and several of the other 527s - Accountability for Colorado, Main Street Colorado, 21st-Century Colorado, Colorado Values - frequently sent money back and forth to each other.
Looks like Julie is involved with the Freedom from Religion Foundation and is also the grinch that stole Christmas
21st Century Colorado is proving to be an elusive prey so if anyone can shed some light on this puppy, let me know.
Oh, what a tangled progressive web we weave...I look at this level of organization and inter-connectedness and I think we're in big trouble, possums. This isn't community organizing - this is gangsta organizing. It makes the Tea Partiers and Town Hellers look like rank amateurs.
And you know what really pi$$es me off? It will get absolutely no play in the MSM...
