In Bahrain rape is "just harmless fun..."

What's a little Muslim gang rape among friends says FEMALE defense attorney.  (I wonder if the defense attorney would feel the same way if she found herself on the other side of one.)  The victim was a Filipina (disposable expat domestic) and was a no show in the court room.  Do you blame her?

THE alleged abduction and gang rape of a woman was dismissed as harmless fun by a female defence lawyer in a Bahrain trial yesterday.

Three men accused of the attack should be acquitted because young people often commit crimes for "fun", without criminal intent, said lawyer Fatima Al Hawaj.

The men, aged 19, 20 and 21, are accused at the High Criminal Court of snatching a Filpina off the street as she walked home from work at night, last September.

They allegedly drove her to an isolated area in Askar, gang raped her and then abandoned her, after stealing her mobile phone and purse.

All three deny abduction, rape and theft.

Ms Al Hawaj told judges that her clients were youngsters and that "minors' often committed crimes for fun, without ill-intent.

"It is general knowledge that youngsters commit crimes for the fun of it and not with the intention to harm others and I request the court to take that into consideration and clear my clients of the charges," she argued.

The 24-year-old woman failed to show up in court yesterday for cross-examination despite knowing about the session.

Attorney Mohammed Al Mutawa stepped in mid-session, saying he represented her and pledged to bring her to the next hearing.

"I am representing her in this case and she knows about the hearing, but couldn't make it due to personal reasons. I pledge to personally bring her to the next session," he told judges.

The woman was allegedly walking home from the hotel she works in Manama when the men, who were driving a rented car, followed her.

Prosecutors claim they grabbed her hands and dragged her into their car, drove her to a secluded area in Askar and gang-raped her.

The men then allegedly stole her mobile phone and purse, which contained cash and dumped her in the middle of the desert. She later managed to identify her abductors' car and the rape kit results were positive for the defendants' DNA, said the prosecution. Judges adjourned the case to April 12, to summon the woman for cross-examination.

Obama's Denver Pig Roast 2.17.09

We sure had us a big howdy in Denver today and the lovely and talented Michelle Malkin was there.  (see left.)  So was Dinah. 

First stop was the State Capitol building for an Anti Stimulus rally and Pig Roast. Featured speakers: Michelle Malkin, John Caldara, Jim Pfaff, Tom (nuke Mecca) Tancredo. (C'mon, he was kidding.) and a host of others. Yes, roast pig was served. The turnout was great and the crowd was friendly and enthusiastic.

There were only a few isolated incidents of moonbats behaving badly. A couple of homeless guys were being  a-holes, yelling about Bush. One guy started getting loud and obno and a couple of guys there (they looked like ex military and one was wearing a Minuteman hat) went toe to toe with him. He shut up and moved on. They were quite impressive.

Michelle Malkin was adorable and was clearly the star attraction. Tom Tancredo was a close second.

I am sorry to report that I missed the live pig.  I did manage to locate the roast one.

The next stop was the Denver Museum of Nature and Science where the Messiah signed the Stimulus Bill into law. The entrance was cordoned off and all of us little people were consigned to waiting for a glimpse of the chosen one from across the street. When I got there, there were maybe about 75 people. Clearly some Obamaniacs, some neighborhood people walking their dogs, moms who brought their kids and a few obvious tinfoilers and homeless people. The crowd grew to about 125-150 by the time the Messiah exited the building. About 15-20 of those were protestors.

I mingled with the moonbats for a while then when over to join my peeps. They were a real nice bunch of folks to spend an afternoon with. Things got a little rowdy when a rabid moonbat started in Bush bashing, but nothing the peeps couldn't handle.

Finally, the first motorcade blew by. At first I though it was Obama, because the man's hand waving from the back window of the limo was black. But the motorcade was of the mini-me variety, so evidently it was VP Biden. I thought it interesting that Biden came out a different entrance than the Messiah. (Was Joe playing middle class Czar again? Was that why he was there?)

Anyway, the second much larger motorcade exited City Park right across from us and Obama was in there somewhere. All I saw was a big, black hand in the back window. (I mean that hand was BIG. Wouldn't it be funny if they just had a black hand on an automatic hand waver stuck in the back window?)
