I ask again, where is the outrage? And is it just me, or does it sound like the Pakistani authorities believe the Shia in the Ashura celebration were in fact responsible for the bombing and ensuing riots in some sort of false flag operation? Hmmm.
From AKI:
Pakistani interior minister Rahman Malik also confirmed during a visit to Karachi on Monday that the blast at an Ashura mourning procession was not a suicide attack.
“We are reviewing the case with a new angle and will uncover the whole conspiracy,” Rahman told reporters.
Pakistanis were stunned when CCTV footage aired on national television on late on Sunday showed last Monday's bomb was planted in a box containing holy Koranic papers.
The CCTV footage showed showed the outrage of participants at the mourning procession immediately after the bombing. But within one hour after the blast, the footage showed what appeared to be organised gangs infiltrating the mourners.
People were captured by the CCTV footage distributing nylon gloves
among the rioters, who used chemicals including phosphorous and other
materials to torch hundreds of shops in a 48-hour rampage.
The footage showed police and paramilitary rangers looking on as silent spectators before leaving the whole area to the mercy of the rioters.
Police showed restraint to frustrate the intentions of Taliban-led insurgents who hoped for an escalation of violence and casualties that would plunge the city into chaos, Pakistani police officer Waseem Ahmed told Adnkronos International by phone from Karachi.
The CCTV footage clearly showed the incompetence of Pakistan's security agencies and their complete lack of coordination. It has sparked major concern over security in Pakistan's largest city, which has many ethnic and sectarian fault-lines.
