Hosam Smadi, the 19 year old Jordanian citizen (and illegal alien) got smoked out by the FBI in an online 'extremist' chat room.

Smadi "stood out to authorities because of an alleged “vehement intention to actually conduct terror attacks in the United States.”  The Feds posed as an al Qaeda sleeper cell and the game was on.

“In the name of God, the Gracious and the Merciful, this is my vow to you, my brother, that I am ready,” Smadi allegedly told undercover FBI agents. “And if you were a lover of Jihad as I am, then, by God, I am ready for the Jihadi life.”

Federal authorities arrested a 19-year-old Jordanian citizen whom they said placed an inactive car bomb today at Fountain Place, a 60-story skyscraper in downtown Dallas.

Hosam Maher Husein Smadi has repeatedly voiced his intent to serve Osama bin Laden and al-Qa’ida and commit “violent Jihad,” authorities said in a prepared statement.

“Today’s arrest of Hosam Maher Husein Smadi underscores the FBI’s unwavering commitment to bring to justice persons who attempt to bring harm to citizens of this country and significant danger to this community,” special FBI agent in charge Robert E. Casey, Jr. said in the statement. “Smadi made a decision to act to commit a significant conspicuous act of violence under his banner of ‘self Jihad.’”

At first, Smadi wanted to target the buildings belonging to the American Express and Visa because "the credit card is what drives America".  Then he focused on military recruitment centers and targeted the National Guard Armory in Dallas.  The Dallas airport with a secondary target at a nearby bank was also discussed.  The Feds gave him one more chance to opt out.  He came back with a renewed sense of purpose and a new target:  The Wells Fargo bank located at Fountain Place.

On September 24th, Smadi drove into Dallas, picked up his VBIED and then drove to the bank.  He entered the garage located beneath the bank, flipped the timer on and then left the garage to rendezvous with his fellow jihadi (FBI) approximately 3 blocks from the building.  He declined earplugs saying he wanted to hear the blast.  Then Smadi dialed the cellphone number that he believed would detonate the bomb.  The phone number Smadi called was in possession of law enforcement.  At that time he was put under arrest.
